how much power?

I called bullydog today to order a torque plate for my friends 97 standard. He pulls alot of trailers so I don't know wether or not to get the 40 or 80 hp plate. I'm also ordering a set of gagues to go along with the plate. I figured the 80hp plate would be alright if he had a set of gagues even though he pulls loads... . am I right?? I just want to give him plenty of power and still be safe. I don't know anything about these trucks because I have a first gen. thanks

here is my advise, don't spend any money if you are only going to the 40hp plate, slide the stock one forward all the way for free.
