Got a 2001 ETH 6spd with edge juice. stock turbo, SB OFE, soon to install HX35/40 and 4" exhaust

Have some 100HP Scheid lightnings I plan on installing, wondering if I need to get smaller/cleaner injectors. Want to know what to expect.

how much smoke can I expect on a 1x1 setting? Will it be comparable to a 5x5 with the comp alone or more smoke? I would like to not be too sooty as I am in the city and don't wan't people cutting me off because I blew a bit of smoke at them unintentionally.

You could drive like a little old lady, 1st gear starts, delicate throttle until rpms are out of the max torque area. Unfortunately for me, I'm soot sensitive, so that's how I drive most of the time. The power is there if I want to use it, it just leaves mark on the local atmosphere. That's with 90HP injectors. It was worse (in terms of smokiness) when I ran the Edge Comp. Sub-levels 4 & 5 are out of the question for non-smokey behavior. At least with the Comp you can change settings at will. 100HP injectors have smoke potential all by themselves. In the end, you will want all the power upgrades. So the moral of the story is, learn to drive as best suits your conscience or the power demand of the moment, which ever takes precedence.

Cheers,

Neil

I'm going to say more smoke. I put Mach 1's (65 Hp) in my truck, and noticed alot more smoke at low RPM. I smoked out two lanes of traffic by accident, just testing the injectors after I put them in. It is those low RPM WOT tests that really smoke.

If you don't use the throttle like an on off switch then the smoke is manageable. I am learning to roll on the throttle and I hardly smoke if any. If I turn on the TST the smoke is no less, just cleans up a bit faster (IMO) as the box creates faster turbo spool.

I think you will learn to control the smoke with your right foot, I don't remember having any trouble with my DDII's and my HX35.

In the end, you will want all the power upgrades.

Whether you believe it or not, this is so true! :-laf :-laf

Thanks for the help. mostly I am at sea level- 2000ft. With normal driving/cruising am I going to be hazing a lot? wondering if some rv275 injectors would be better as i could gain about 40HP since I have the ETH, any suggestions. I think I will stay below 400HP, AS THE EXPENSE GETS HIGHER.

Haze isn't a big deal. The only time I can see any is at night with HID headlights following me. We're talking about the black cloud - too much throttle + too little boost = black smoke.

I don't know about the Scheid injectors, but I had RV275s for a couple of years with an EZ. That's a nice combo for an otherwise stock truck. Frankly, 40HP injectors are hardly worth the effort to install. Go for the 100HP and get it over with. Put the Comp on sub-level 1 and launch like you're going for max MPGs. Just knowing you can turn up the fuel at will can keep you mellow most of the time.

all these responses are true. . it will depend on how you drive. I can fog an intersection with the comp turned up, but normal cruising haze isn't an issue. You WILL want the bigger injectors though. I put m-4's in the first time so I wouldn't have to be changing them again anytime soon. The 4's are a lot cleaner than I thought they'd be, but that's the beauty of the comp and sub levels. With pulling my trailer (5k) and the air on comp on 1x2 results in just some gray form the line unless I mash it then it will come on quick. You should be fine unless you're heavy footed all the time :-laf
