To the point, can I get 315/75's under my truck without a lift kit? If I have to lift, how much is required?

Thanks, Brian

BC FAST, My 305 70's rubbed the plastic wheel well liner on the front Before I added 2" spacers. I have heard that 315's may even rub with 2" spacers. I definetely would not recommend 315's at stock height. Also remember tire sizes vary quite a bit between brands and tread design. A brand A tire may fit but a brand X may rub. If you off-road at all you need a little more clearance than if you stay on the street.

I know this is not the answer you were looking for but hope it helps. Give me a little while to wear out my 305's and I will tell you if 315's will fit as I am looking at the 35" SSR radials.

Groover,

Do your 305's rub on the control arms? Mine do and I was wondering what to do about it. Do the spacers work? If so where did you get the spacers?

TIA

Cold Diesel, My 305's do not rub on the control arms. I think that has a lot to do with what wheels you run and the backspacing they have. Mine are 8" x 16" eagles with same backspacing as stock. Wider wheels may cause a control arm rub.

The spacers I have are poly resin made by Daystar - got them at 4wheelparts wholesalers. JC Whitney now carries aluminum spacers that are cheaper than the daystar .

315's rubbing

I have a skyjacker 2. 5" lift with 315-75-16 MT Baja Claws on modern 16-8's. My tires never rubbed until I put on diamond plate mud flaps. Now they rub at full lock. So I either have to go to a higher lift, different rims, or fender flares instead of the mud flaps I have. The tires look to good to change so they are staying.

305/70/16 Goodyear ATS's on stock chrome 6. 5 Never a rubbing problem, even before the Jack-it leveling kit. I agree, a lot depends on the tire wheel combo, eg. back spacing. Good luck I would love 315's but don't want to raise my gear ratio any more.

My 315's rubbed nothing but the control arms with the stock suspension-and surprisingly levelling the front never fixed that problem! I bounced mine over some nasty terrain as part of my job-and they touched nothing wheelwell related.....

I run 315's with factory suspension and wheels and they only rub the control arms at full lock. To keep them from rubbing the control arms means more backspacing but need the leveling kit to run aftermarket wheels. But the 315's are

Now that I'm levelled I have an idea or two about the control arm rub too-but I have to research it a shade more. It doesn't hurt anything-but it bugs me!

I had 315 MT Bajas on Friday night, and they rubbed on my Luverne steps. They stuck out of the fenderwells about 4"s, so the rims must have had lots of back spacing.

Question?

2" spring shim--$130

3" body lift -------70$

New front springs with more lift- $ 400, at least?

An entire suspension lift kit is out of the question, I just need clearance for those tires to pull with, they will be taken off after each pull.

Which do you guys like??

Spring spacers and add-a-leafs

Sled puller,

I would go with the replacement springs from skyjacker instead of the spacers. They are just the springs from their 2. 5 inch lift. I think they are about 140. 00. They look a lot better and they'll level the front. What kind of MT Baja's are you running? How do you like them?

They were the MTX, I drove them 30 minutes to the pull, pulled, then 30 back. Hooked well, drove REALLY nice for that size tire.

But, Like I said, they stuck out, we get pulled over in Pa for that, and I don't want fender flares, becuase our lovely salt gets behind them.

Will those springs, will I need different shocks?

How much trouble to install them?

Any body have a cheap set of rims? Just for pulls.

Same shocks

Sled puller

I think the stock length shocks will handle up to 3" of lift. The shocks are what limit the up travel on our trucks so you might not get nearly as much as before. If you can find a set of coil spring compressers that big it would be easy if not it takes some work. If you get the springs and dont get instructions with them pm me and I will send you my lift instructions. So the tires are the MTX radials? I was thinking of getting a set of those for the winter. You can use some diamond plate for mudflaps to cure the tires sticking out problem. If you want I can send you pictures of my truck. Just send me your email address.
