Thanks for the replies guys. The Van Aaken claims 60 hp and 160 Tq. I was asking primarily to see if I'd be at the limits of the factory clutch. I was told that they usaually don't start to slip untill about 700-750 Lb-ft of Tq. Anybody have thoughts on those #'s?
When i was running the E-Z and 275 injectors, i made 275 horse and 641 tq. at the wheels. I didn't have any problems with the stock clutch then. When i changed to the Edge Juice module, my clutch got really ****** at me. Then i changed to the Con Ofe 13-1. 25, and the clutch is happy again. Randy
Gary, I know your comp and smarty stack is giving you a lot more than i'm getting from the VA box, so I'm not sure how much to subtract from your numbers (I figure a good bit). Rattler's old set up looks alot closer to what I'd see. Edge claims 5 more Hp and 25 more FtLb Tq. for the EZ than the VA, there should be about 40 Hp difference between the 275's and the M 1. 6's. Anybody have torque #'s for the 275's and 1. 6's?
Well, they're installed. Used the DD instructions from here and the TDR article in issue 51. No surprises or catastrophe. It did take every bit of 4 hours though. Lets see if the factory clutch can hang in there for a while!
Special thanks to Olee Poole for outstanding service and support after the sale!
My truck makes about 500 HP and 1000 TQ. Just my Smarty with my Comp box turned off was more than the factory clutch could handle. I would say my clutch gave out at less than 400 RWHP and may be 650 pounds of torque. The more aggressive the power curve the sooner the clutch will slip.
I've been very pleased with the CON OFE on my rig. My stock clutch slipped with just the Comp or 3 before I installed my 1. 6's. Once the injectors were in it slipped even with the Comp on 1. Has never slipped yet since new cluch even on 5.
My truck made 343/701 with my comp set on level 3. Level 5 was not working but should have added another 40 hp. This was about a month ago at the Orangevale dyno day.
