Thats pretty crazy how much the 3rd gens actually weigh. When I built my conversion truck (GMC Crew-Cab) 12valve Cummins,Dodge D60 Front, 11. 5 AAM rear, NV5600 and 241HD it only came in at 7650 with me in it and a full tank. Not bad for a 1-ton Crew-Cab Dually. I was thinking it would be well over 8K.
It is a dedicated pull truck now so I gutted the interior (bought a cheapy manual seat from the wreckers instead of all the nice power leather I had) lost the fuel tank and went with a 5 gallon fuel cell and a few other little things that were lost. Managed to get it down to 7250 so now I am hanging 750lbs out front. I will post some pics, I made a little weight box 34" wide, 8" tall and 12" deep and filled it with lead bars... turned out pretty neat!
