B&W Turnover Ball Hitch

24' pace american

I am planning on getting one of the slide in cargo carriers for my truck. I found one that will carry anything a Class 5 hitch will handle. They bill it as a atv carrier and real heavy duty.

What I am wondering is how much is too much when applying that kind of weight to the receiver of my truck. Thanks guys.

I've put 1200 plus on mine with a trailer for over two years of regular use. A cargo carrier 600 or under would probably work, but I would guess the carrier weight should be kept to 600 if you want it to last. I've been working my factory hitch hard and its held up longer than expected. It has not bent down yet from my heavy equipment trailer. :)

D/C had to replace my hitch after the first season of use on a 03. 5. The trailer I haul is only 8600 lbs and tongue weight of 400 lbs. The hitch bent and was 1 1/2" lower than it was suppose to be. The new replacement hitch is working fine. Oo.

i just had to replace/upgrade mine i had a one time load i had 11,000lb trailer. where the hitch mounted to the frame had about 1-2" cracks on both sides. got a good deal and have a new class V 16000lb hitch now

the stock hitch is a class IV which is rated for 500lbs tounge wt. 5,000lbs total wt. or with a weight distrbution setup it is rated for 1,000lbs tounge wt. and 10,000lbs total wt.

I looked on the receiver this morning and the number are 500-5000 and 1000-10,000. So you guys are right. The cargo carrier I am looking at is 200 pounds by itself. There is no way I would be able to get much use out of it without going to a heavier duty receiver. What brands would you guys suggest.

I just put a Reese Titan on my truck last night. its rated for 12000/14000 and 1200/1700 the shank i bought for the WD hitch is rated for 17000/1700

the Titan is not bad for $275

I put the putnum xdr series class IV its rated to 15,000lbs weight carrying with a tounge wt of 1,500 and weight dist. 17,000lbs and tounge wt. of 1,750lbs. pretty easy to install took me bout 15min to put on.
