Competition The differences of a load/inertia dyno?

I was just wondering if any dually owners had removed their outer rear wheels while drag racing? If so, how much quicker did it run. It seems like it should make a significant difference losing that much rotating weight. . Thanks...

you will loose about 50-60+ pounds each and every 100lbs is a tenth, but if you factor in rotating mass it should be more. i would say 2 tenths

Id say you wont see anything change. Im sure if Jesse "Aftershock" could pick up a tenth with doing that he would have taken the duals off a long time ago.

I agree here, but... ... . the old 100lbs per tenth is for lighter vehicles, cars and such weighing in at 3000lbs. A truck however, weighing over twice that should put it to roughly 1/2 tenth per hundred pounds, in my opinion.

Best bet here is to "try it and see" ;)

I removed my spare tire and hitch and only picked up a few hundreths, granted it was a different day with different conditions tho.

I was just wondering about rotating mass. I've always heard it makes a much larger difference. I just figured someone else out there would have track results with and without. . It is interesting to see how much of the rotating mass theory is true.

The way I look at it, any little bit can't hurt, Though, will it be enough to actually notice? Another thought, does your truck need the contact patch offered by the duals for traction? I mean, will you lose to much traction going with singles in the back? Just my 2 cents...

Well, I just got back from the track. There were over 250 cars running tonight, and I was in a long traffic jam on the way to the track. I didn't get a chance to take the outside wheels off. . I did remove the torque mgt. . Wow, what a difference. . I torqued it up between 1800-2000 rpm at launch. I was scared to go higher. The big black pig cut a 1. 78 60' and ran 13. 04 at 103 mph. It did an 8. 2 in the eighth. I can't wait to remove the wheels now. . I was going to run a shot of nitrous, though my nozzle was cracked that goes in the intake. Over all, I'm very pleased with the night. . I want that 12. 99. . haha... I did make a second pass. . I didn't torque it up near as much, and my 60' was in the 1. 9's. It ran 13. 23 at 103. .

I gotta agree with JFLAGG

You will be cutting your rubber in half.

I got problems now with traction.

I know, take off duals add SLICKS.

My thoughts, not sure if there worth 2 cents.
