how much would u pay for a juck yard cummins

well at the moment i cant buy a truck so next best thing. build a cummins motor and put it in my 86 gmc. or keep it till i can find one run it till it blows and swap the new one in. but my ? is how much would u pay for a complet motor from a scrap yard.

complete Cummins

I checked in on this eBay Motors item and he wants $4000 complete which is a good deal except the shipping to me ended up between $1000 and $2000 so I didn't go for it.

A local wrecking yard has a 95 with 92,000 miles on that he would make complete for $4000 plus my 7. 3 NA core.

Cummins had a special back in March/May or so and they had 5. 9s with various Dodge specs (auto/manual/different years) that were New and Complete for $6000. Of course I was not sure what I was going to do at the time but that was a good deal.

I'm not familiar with auto insurance salvage vehicle pricing but there's a '93 W350 up in Duluth, MN that has a ACV (whatever that is) of $14,500 & an estimated repair cost of $11,500. If I'm doing this right, then the difference btwn the 2, $3000, is what the COMPLETE vehicle should about go for at a salvage auction. Only catch is you might have to have a dealer/salvager bid on it for you (laws vary -- some auctions are open to the public, others are not). In case you're interested, here's the link.

Good luck.

I picked up mine for the conversion into the chevy truck a 1998 with 3k miles and whole wiring harness from the truck ( under hood and under dash) pcm and ecm, NV4500 2wd trans. The clutch disk still had the lettering on the face. I picked it up about 1. 5 years ago for 4k... keep looking some people think these things are gold.

BV,

That shipping amount is way out of line. You should be able to get that motor to you for between $400. - $700. freight collect.

I bought a Bridgeport mill of 2400 lbs. in Cihicago shipped for $700. , a 900 lb surface grinder from Racine shipped for $360. , a 1400 lb. lathe from Connecticut shipped for $450. , and a 800 lb. tool & cutter grinder in New Jersey shipped for $375. I picked them all up in Portland.

It's about size, weight, and classification and there's some room for creative thinking. If you want, PM me and I'll give you a name and number of a Spokane guy who should be able to work with you.
