Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) how much?

hey a friend of mine has a 97 reg cab long bed dually with a steel flatbed on it. Has 227k on it needs painted and fifth gear put back on, has new tires and brakes . I have a third gen truck and was thinking of buying this one for a play toy but dont know what its worth? any help would be great

Look it up on Kelly Blue Book and NADA, take an average and make the adjustment. for paint and replacing the gear.

i just paid $6200 for mine, 304k 96 3500 drw regular cab 5 speed cold ac decent paint with some chips and a 11' flat bed, it had a couple fueling issues but nothing serious that kept me from driving it over 200 miles home from picking it up, it goes down the road straight hands off the wheel at 70 (didn't expect that with a solid front axle) and runs/drives/shifts good
