How much did I save by replacing the #4 injector line on the side of the road? Mine went out on me about 30 miles from home at quitting time Friday. Luckily, a coworker and his helper were a few minutes behind and were able to help me. I didn't have one and had to buy from the local Dodge dealer and was lucky to get it all done before closing time. Tow truck, dealership repair bill, and lost work, due to the dealer service dept. being backlogged, I figured I saved a bunch!

Depending on how far you were from dealer, the tow could be stiff, last time I had to use one they charged $100. 00 minimum and $37. 50 load up and it was a car. Labor charges are up around $90. 00 to $100. 00 an hour so there's probably one hour plus and you might have been without your truck a day or two if they were backed up. Good shot. bg

That injector line was the second line rupture that week. Wednesday, on a natural gas pipeline leak repair, the new line we were getting ready to install ruptured during a pneumatic test. Unfortunately, it was close enough to where I and two others were about to cut into the steel line to inflict some damage to us. I was down in the ditch, bent over about to mark the cut and got hit in the head by either the pipe or a projectile propelled by the pipe and knocked down. The company rep was standing right next to me, at ground level and got hit in the lower leg. He was air lifted to the hospital with a severe break above his left ankle. The third man was hit and knocked down, but didn't receive any severe injuries. 60 psi in 600 ft. of 6" poly pipe has quite a bit of stored energy! My rib cage is sore from getting knocked down, and I still can't open my mouth wide enough to eat an apple without some pain, but I'll survive.
