Cold weather check...

If you get the run in temps around zero, at first startup a smooth running, limited smoke engine means everything should be still fine. If you can not rev it without lots of white smoke AND it running rumbly, stumbly ... . a little timing increase is in order.

A CUMMINS shop won't go over 2* above specs. (or what I've been told anyway) My 94 was supposed to be 12. 5* so 14. 5* would've been the max. I set mine about 25. 5*

Two problems with Cummins... . 1)They'll only set/check it to stock settings. 11 or 12 somewhere . 2)They'll charge 1 arm and 1 leg to do it. $$$... .

I just paid a shop to set my timing $163 they wanted 160 to do thet valves i said no thanks i will do that myself (fyi set my timing at 17 piers thinks that maybe to much for the head gasket... hop not. -

Come on Piers is protecting you like he should... ... that's my buddy! Your timing should be fine... . repeat should be. Remember I've pushed his single O-ring past were it should have been too;)

If your truck is acting fine then leave it alone and don't worry about it, when I do timing I put a new washer on and clean the shaft with brake cleaner or electric cleaner and it's actually hard to get the gear to pop off, if it's stuck it will stay.

kinda the way he does w/ the 38-40psi "limit" he puts on HX40's ;) :p :D

He's smart on the 40's as he knows they don't make more power at high boost levels and the way people blow stuff up and expect vendors to fix them for free I would do it the same way. I wonder if me pushing my 40 to 75 psi in valet with the wastegate shut on my twins was hard on it, who's fault it that... ... ..... I believe that makes them my turbo's.
