Only the one time, but I did have to drive approximately 3,000 miles after that. I had the same thing happen with the air filter. I got warning message to change the air filter. The truck only had 6,000 miles on it. Considering I was on the road I had to search for a NAPA dealer, but the truck was too new and they did not have a filter for it. So now I had to search for a Dodge dealer and then had to pay $50 bucks for an air filter.

Once I got back home I went to my regular NAPA dealer and got another air filter for it, only $18 bucks.

This is my 1st diesel engine truck and I do not need any problems with it. In addition I was an ASE certified mechanic for 10 years, but never worked with diesel engine. In the early 80's the diesel had a lot of flaws and I was an alignment tech at Goodyear.

Thanks for the info.

i have oil and filter changed between 3k & 4k regularly. to me it is a cheap insurance policy against oil dilution. 95% of my driving is city. if i was on the open road i would stretch oil changes out. my . 02.

i am not a mechanic so feel this is one thing I can do to hopefully avoid some of the nightmares some of you folks have gone through.

I changed the oil at 3000 miles in my 09 and didnt reset the OH. I just had the oil change light ding at 9200 miles. I was gonna change it this week anyway. I will reset it this time too. Gonna do my first UOA also.
