so after the problems with my 05, this new 07 i am going to do it right, i just bought it last week and filled it up, i treated the tank to 9oz of power serivce slime-x, i am wondering is once a month enough treatment? i go through a tank of fuel about once a week or so. any thought would be great thanks

If you go through fuel that fast then you dont have to worry about the fungus. It's really only a problem with fuel that sits a long time.

Unless of course you get a tank full with it already present, but thats rare. Happened to me once in 16 years.

When you remove your filter & there is a black film on the metal parts of the filter treat it for algie, untill then I would NOT put if in!!!!!!!!

Black fuel goo

Could be different black stuff, the algae I've dealt with in boat fuel tanks is usually from a contaminated load of fuel. It lives in the fresh water that condenses on the sides of the tanks, or so I've been told by folks who say they know. It's awful stuff, I do know that for sure, you'll go thru no end of filters if you get this variety. I've used Siloo with very good results, it seems to kill it. Haven't had it in the truck yet, sure hope I never do, it would plug one of those little filters in no time.

I have had diesel trucks since Ford put the 6. 9 in, in 1983 and tractors before that and have never had to add anything to the fuel. Guess I'v just been lucky and never got into a bad load of fuel.
