Dumb question I know, but just wondering how rare a 98. 4(i. e. 12 valve) Quad Cab 5spd 4x4 would be?

Thinking of maybe trading next year. Don't get me wrong I love my truck, but I think I shoulda bought an extended cab. And if I buy an Ext. cab I think I'm just gonna buy a 3500.

So exactly how rare is one?

'98 12 valves in general are probably the rarest Ram of all, short production year. They are out there though, be patent and one will come your way.

See the reason I want a 98 is for the 4 door quad cab.

I wish they had come out with the Quad Cab in 97. There is a 97 Ext. Cab 4x4 5spd 3500 flatbed:)rolleyes: ) in Scottsville KY right now for $15,500. I'd sell/trade mine next week for if it was a quad cab. :{

Oh well maybe I'll find one next year when I get ready to trade. :(

Those trucks are too rare you will pull your hair out trying to find a nice one. I looked for months for a nice 12 valve '96 or '97 or even an early '98, it had to be a five speed 4x4 extend cab with under 100k miles. I couldn't find one so i gave up. All trucks that I found with 5 speeds seemed to have 200k plus miles on them. I did find several nice auto equipped trucks. I think DC made mostly autos in these years cause it seemed like most of the trucks i looked at all had autos. So I said to heck with it since i own a business and decided to take some tax advantages and just do a lease on a new truck.

I just wish mine was a 4x4..... That's all I would need to be happy!!! I am not complaining, because I am happy where I am at now, but they are really rare!

Have a 95 or 96 3500 4x4 fiver with a 102,000 on the stealers lot here for 15,000. Probably get it down a little more if someone wanted it.

I might sell you mine for...

One Million, no, One BILLION dollars... ... .

Bone stock. I save all my money for booze.

They're probably not as rare as 2WD. When I was looking for my truck I was a real novice about what to look for. All I knew is that I wanted a Dodge, diesel, ext. cab, long bed, manual trans and 2WD (just using it for daily driving and towing the 5er - didn't want 4x4).

When I finally did find the right combo it turned out to be a 98 12v QC. I had no idea at the time just how rare this thing is and I don't know what I'm going to do when I wear this one out after a million miles or so. :D

ME TOO!

got smoke, how far are you willing to travel to pick one up? I can keep an eye out for one around here. Also, I bought mine at this dealership www.awtrucks.com

I'm not associated, but was real happy with their selection and they update their site once a week or so.

Depends on price. I'm kinda in a limited range it appears. Might have to settle for a 97 CC because of that one reason. :(

Just keep your eye's peeled and shoot me a email or PM if you see one I might be interested in.

Thanks

I would basically give up my girlfriend, if I had one before I got rid of my 98. 4 6BTA. :D :D :D There are several ways to spot a 98, or so I have noticed. . I may be wrong, but that is the only year they had the exhaust pipe come out to the side, straight out to the side; also where the airbag light is in the 99+ is the accessory plug, and the empty pocket is for foglights and airbag... . Do y'all know if you can put a 99+ light switch in a 98. 4?? I am talking about the one with the twisty knob... Let me know, and correct me if I am wrong on any of these sure fire ways to ID a 98. .

Charlan, you're right on with the dash location of items, not sure about the light switch though.

Another way to tell from the outside, if it's a quad cab and the door badge doesn't say it's a 24 valve, then likely it's a 98 12v

that dealer's web page I posted above shows they have 3 98's in stock right now and two are 3500's. Not sure if they're 12'ers or not.

Charlan,

If you mean that the exhaust pipe comes out the side, straight and level I am not sure you are correct: mine angles down at what, a 30 degree angle? My 96 had the pipe come straight out to the side, level like.

More useless information from me!
