I dropped my truck off at the dealer where I bought it to get some things looked at. I got the impression they were trying to talk me out of my problems. The list I gave them is this; rear speakers don't sound correct, power steering pump is leaking, blow by bottle not catching anything just making a mess, oil leak from bottom of bell-housing:( , steering wanders with a loose feeling, and finally I told them it will not warmup without driving and told them I heard there was a reprogram they could do. I didn't give any TSB# because I wanted to give them a chance to do it right the first time. I have a really bad feeling they are going to fight with me over the minor problems, what stance should I take with them? This is my first new truck, I am hoping once I get these things cleared up it will be trouble free for a while.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Matt

Partner, it is not worth fighting with them. If you cannot get any satisfaction with this dealer move on to another. Most of them SUCK, but there are a few good ones. Talk to TDR members in your area for feedback on dealers too, it might save you a couple more frustrating trips.

Give them a chance, but if they jerk you around at all, just let them know you'll be on a personal crusade to trash their Five Star Dealer status..... assuming they have one. Also, 14K + members on the TDR will be watching..... ;)

Surprise, Surprise

They said nothing was wrong, except for the power steering leak which they tried to blame on me. They said I overfilled it and that could have caused it:mad: . Why in the world would I be adding fluid to it if it was full and "not leaking" all over my driveway? Anyways, I had a talk with the service manager, he looked at the speakers and admitted they weren't right. I have to take it back next week to fix the leak, I will be prepared to stay with the mechanic and service manager if neccessary. On a positive note, the SM was helpful and convinced me that he was going to do whatever it took to get the truck fixed.

Matt

#1 could be a problem and they should "try" and fix.

#2 That's a problem and they should fix.

#3 Has it ever been emptied? That could be the problem.

#4 I would bet that is from the blow by bottle.

#5 Good luck!!!

#6 It's a diesel and takes some driving to warm up, like 5-6 miles.

I hope that I have lowered your expectations enough that you will not be disappointed with your 5 star service :)

To clarify

problem #3 yes it gets cleaned every 3 thousand, always has more outside than in.

problem#4 I will look closer tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it is coming from the vent on the bottom of the bell housing.

problem#5 you ain't kiddin

problem#6 I was hoping for the engine warmup program, (I know I just need an exhaust brake, but this should be free)

And I think they might just be a 5 star dealer, lucky me;)

Dealer

Do what a friend of mine did, park the truck in front of the dealer with a big lemon on it and a sign which states how you were treated. You will see how fast you get results.

Problem #3 if it is cleaned out every 3K miles then something is wrong, I would question the blow-by pressure/amount that must be coming out (maybe the hose is to far down in the bottle and it is splattering the oil out?). I have very little on my 2002 and 2000 was dirty when the bottle was not cleaned out. I did have the oil on the bell housing but when I cleaned it up and checked it was also coming fromt the bottle. The warm up is only good for real cold weather. I just plug mine in for a couple of hours and then drive it. Good luck.
