My 98 12 was getting a little short of power. I changed the fuel filter and that didn’t help so I started checking for a boost leak. All of the clamps were loose some very loose some just a little loose. I tightened all of them and the power problem was solved. My question is how tight should the clamps be? They don’t seem to get really tight. I tightened the easiest one to get to until it got loose again. Had to hunt down a new clamp.

Thanks, Jeff

'95 manual says 72 in/lbs. This is much tighter than I would ever consider doing it by feel alone. I highly recommend that everyone tighten the clamps at least once with a torque wrench to get a feel for it. I feel that folks who have problems with hoses blowing off have just never used a torque wrench on the clamps. They're supposed to be really tight.

Thanks for the info guys. Illflem, I'll get a torque wrench and torque them to the 72 in/lb spec. I guess my tighten until it smokes and go two turns was a little tight. MMclain, I was using a 3/8 rachet when I broke the clamp. I think it may have been overtightend before I broke it. Thanks again. Jeff
