Every time I drain a little fuel/water from the fuel filter, my valve gets stuck open and I end up having to monkey with it for twenty minutes trying to get it to shut. Not to mention that my wife is now complaining that our gravel driveway is starting to smell like a truck stop.

It's just a simple little valve, is mine defective or are they all that way? Or am I just missing a little trick?

Thanks-

Dave

Don't know what is going on with your valve but I did add a long tube that allows me to put a can under the truck to catch the drained fuel.

fuel drain line size

Can you tell us the size, length and type of drain line you used to

replace the original fuel drain line.

thanks,

Bob Caldwell

A slightly larger tube

I tried to remove the line on my fuel filter drain valve and it seems like it was put on by the same guy who does the oil filters at the factory. I gave up on removing the line out of fear of breaking the valve or fouling it up some other way.

I use a length of tubing that will fit over the factory drain hose and run it from the filter housing down into a clear gallon container on the ground, not the best solution but it keeps the fuel of the the truck/driveway.

I used a piece of clear plastic tube, . 500 OD X . 375 ID. I just slipped it on the existing hose and it was a tight fit. I just leave it hanging down under the truck or it can be tucked up out of sight. Every few days someone will tell me there is something loose and hanging down on the truck. Depending on how pissy I feel that day I tell them the truth or I tell them it is to fill the compressed air super charger at night and that they might have heard it hissing when I pulled up. I know, I know, like I said it depends how I feel at the time and if they took my parking space or such.

when you guys flip the valve down, does it shut off, or does it stick open? I end up having to jiggle thie thing every which way but loose, and have to bump the starter ten times to find out if it's shut. Meanwhile I've got a quart of diesel on the driveway... .
