Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) How to change injectors

Thinking about upgrading my injectors on my 24V. How does one ever remove the tube and injector on number six cylinder ? There does not appear to be any room to work in the rear of the engine. Does the motor lifting eye need to be removed for access to this area ?

I just did it yesterday and was able to remove the #6 line without removing the lifting bracket. It was very tight and took several small turns to get it loose enough to finish by hand. It would be easier if I had a short 3/4 wrench. It was worth the trouble to install the 1. 6's.

For an ez install remove the lifting eye. .

A stubby 19 mm wrench is pretty helpful on #6 also.

Souders, just put my 1. 5's in last Saturday(3/12/05) and #6 was a pain in the ***** very time consuming, I would recommend a 19 mm crow's foot and a 19mm line wrench, a 3/4 inch line wrench is the same as a 19mm. before you get started. The install is pretty strait forward other than #6 being so tight,but it is worth the time,if you have any questions pm me and I'll send you my phone # and try and answer them for you,Don

I'm also wondering about this process. My 1. 6's will be here next week and hopefully will go in next weekend.



I'm also unfamiliar with a line wrench and honestly, I really don't know the true purpose behind a crow's foot.



Anyone help me out here?

I've changes several sets and never needed a line wrench or a crows foot. It is nice to have a stubby wrench for that #6 though, after you get it broke loose. Picture of a crow's foot and line wrench attached.

stubby 3/4 or 19mm works , plus removing the lift eye with the 15mm bolts makes it easier. Pocket screwdriver to pop the tubes out. First time, expect maybe 1. 5-2. 5 hours.

Start with #1 and work back. By the time you get to #6, your a pro.

The reason I said to have the crow's foot was mine was so tight (#6) that I used the crow's foot,breaker bar and a two foot pipe and almost gave up on the change but after having 1 through 5 done it was a case of who was going to win me or #6 line, I won Oo. . Does anybody have any idea why that line got so tight Don
