A while back, I did my front brakes and flushed the system. While I was in the neighborhood, I pulled the ABS sensors and squirted a dab of oil into the left bearing as it sounded a bit dry (I have close to 200K on a set of bearings.....they should be BUILT as oil bath bearings). Anyway, when I buttoned everything back up, I had an ABS trouble light and parking brake light (even with the parking brake released). Today, I replaced that left beaing unit, thinking I dinged the sensor somehow. But a test drive shows the trouble light still there. Is there some secret handshake I should try to clear that light? The brakes have worked just fine ever since the light first came on.

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. It only occurred when it was cold outside and was intermittent, usually over rougher roads. I thought it was a loose/bad connection and sprayed Deoxit on the ABS module connections but it didn't work. Last year I replaced the hub on the passenger side and haven't had the problem since. You say you replaced the left hub, but are you sure that was the one giving you problems? This may be one of those "in for a penny, in for a pound" kind of situations and you are going to end up replacing the other hub before it's all over.

Hi,
Unfortunately I can't answer your question but your post was the first I have heard of oiling the hubs. I figured you ran till failure and then replaced with stock or a free-spin kit if you want the ability to lubricate.

Have you been doing that for a while? Is there a specific thread on this subject where I can find info about frequency, type of oil, quantity, etc.? Thanks, in advance!

Abs code will go away on its own once the reason for it is repaired. No reason to shot gun parts at it.Scan the system and diag for the dtc you find

Yeah, I remember a thread or two years ago about putting oil in the hubs. That likely wasn't the specific title of the threads, so it would take some digging to find them. After I got ripped off by a shop to replace the originals (they pay top dollar for their parts), I vowed to learn how to do them myself and do some preventive maintenance if possible. It made sense.....as long as the races are wet, they're happy. "Lubed for Life", my hind quarter.
