Friend has 97 4x auto, 180 pump. Tows 10K on occassion.

transmission will be addressed. Turbo recommendations for this, as well.

Thanks

BHAF

#10 plate, full forward

DDP3's

3k GSK

HTB2 62/12 (3. 55 gears) or 14 (4. 10s)

Timing to 15. 5/16*

Should get it pretty close. I'm over 360rwhp. I still need a 3k GSK. Would probably be closer to 400hp, if it hadn't defueled so quick.

Do you have a manual trans? Would make a HUGE difference.

Yes i do have a manual trans, but if you are looking for 350 through an automatic than my setup would give you that.

You sig does not mention any type of fuel plate. On a 180 pump an HX40, 370's, a GSK, and bumped timing will not quite make 350HP (well maybe 350 flywheel HP but not RWHP) unless you are familiar with tuning the pump .

Add 191 DV's to that and a #4 plate and it will be 410 RWHP :)

I made 308hp and 845ftlbs with just a number 5 TST plate 1/16 from full foward and afc full foward and starwheel 75 click from full foward, a AFE stage 1 and Mrbp 4 inch exhaust from turbo back stock turbo and I never seen over 700 on pyro post turbo and 40 psi on turbo so add some introductory injectors and you would be close to 350 or a tad under.

What dyno was this on? The only reason I ask, if it is the one I am thinking of, IMO it seems to be a pretty forgiving dyno as far as numbers are concerned.

A #5 typically is around 280-285 and the #4 is 290-295. With that said not all trucks are equal, some just run stronger than others right out of the box.

I made 396/903 on a 248c with full cut dvs, 370s, 0 plate, timmed @ 16deg. hx35/14w, stock 3in,1rst gen staight pipe. Only 36psi and 1150deg on the dyno.

Ok, where is your friend towing this 10K? Not that I am against more power, but I towed 8-10K on Colo front range with a 92 (160hp) stock engine and auto transmission all summer in 2000. Got 13-15MPG doing it, too. I realize this is an apples to oranges comparison, but unless you're dead set against anything less than 350hp, it is unnecesssary, IMO.

The stock HX35 should handle 350hp with just a turbine housing upgrade if EGTs get out of hand.

Agreed an HX35 will handle 350HP, but it will not tow 10k at 350HP and keep EGT's in check (maybe on flat ground but not trough mountainous terrain. I just thought this would be worth mentioning.

Did you do a conversion somewhere?

The 180 pump doesn't put out the same power as a truck with a manual trans would, with the same mods. The 215 pumps move more fuel.

HP or TQ ?

I would take the higher torque over the higher HP anyday. I run a #5 on a stock pump, stock position, injectors, with a AFE filter with custom intake, and 4" turbo back exhaust. It runs right around 900-1000* post turbo, and 1150-1200 pre, under a load 8-10,000#. On the long passes I have to back out on the corners anyway, not possible to go up Monarch at fifty-sixty MPH without putting fifthwheel and truck over the edge! The balance of power is perfect for altitude, I push about 36# of boost, with a tad of smoke between shifts, otherwise with full throttle at 12,000' I get just a haze.

A good friend with a 05, boxed with exhaust has been dynoed at 330HP and 680TQ, I can out pull him once I get in fourth, on long rolling hills, he has a advantage with his six speed. But get him on the long pulls I close on him and if long enough, go around him. . :D He wants a 96 to "play" with... :D
