how to get a Patent

Ok guys,

I am looking into patent a "item" but im not sure how to go about this, Im going to call the family lawyer tomorrow and see if he has any legal advice. I still have the idea on a "napkin" so I have to draw it out with Auto-CAD plus find a vendor for material and a manufacturer for the item.



any info is greatly appreciated!

The lawyer should refer you to a reputable legal firm that specializes in patent work. It ain't cheap but if you've got the next big thing...



Whatever you do, do NOT call the place that advertises on late night TV. They're in it to make $$ from YOU and probably cut themselves in for a slice too.

haha yeah I doubht Id ever go for the commercial crap, like you said they would want in on the item!



The USPTO is a very non-user friendly site, I was getting frustrated just tring to find information on "getting started" and I went to the "fees" page and it was "free" to $xxx,xxx. 00!!! eeek! I doubt it will be a hit like the "swiffer sweeper" but hopefully it will make a little $

IC, I know of a guy on pavementsucks.com that works in a pat. lawyers office, and he has said that if I ever followed through with a few ideas I have for some "items" he could help me out, let me know if you want his info!
