How do you get the bell housing off the NV5600 trans? I want to clean it up, remove the rust from the trans body, paint and reinstall. I removed all the bolts and was able to move the bell housing about 1/2 inch, (all the fluid ran everywhere) beat the daylights out of it with a rubber hammer and it would not come off. It seemed like the input shaft wanted to come out with the bell housing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you've discovered, the NV5600 does not have a separate bellhousing. What appears to be the bellhousing carries the transmission's input shaft bearing and seal.

To get it off you first must start must stand it up on end with the bellhousing down. Then start with the tail housing and using some pullers start removing pieces. Once you have the tail housing, main housing, and guts removed you will then have just the bell housing to play with.

Thanks for the replys. OK so much for that! Now that I've moved the bell housing away from the main unit, did I hurt anything and should I put some kind of sealer between the two when I bolt it back up? I'll just clean it up and paint with everything in place.
