What is the limiting factor as to why the motor dies after 2900rpm? Is it intake manifold? turbo? Heads? cam? Fueling? At 95mph I am real close to 3000rpm, is it going to fall on its face after that?
 
105 and still pulling (last week), definitely not the top end. Did not catch tach reading, tho. Very stable, no vibrations,etc. On stock wheels & tires since 285 65 18's not in yet. Even so, I would expect that top speed is electronically-limited, rather than drag-limited.
 
Mine run on the dyno, shuts down at 110mph, I think it starts defueling somewhere in between 105-110. I also had it pulling hard at 100 but wouldn't get over 105-108 or so on the highway. Somebody makes a box that cuts out the top speed limiter, it was in the TDR mag, I can't remember the name off hand.
 
I thought mine was limited by the rev limiter at 108 and about 3100 rpm. Unil I went from the 265's to the 315's. Before I got my spedo corrected, it again went right up to 108, but the rpm's were 3100. Considering the size correction, I was probably doing nearly 120mph. As soon as I got the spedo reprogrammed, still maxed at 108, bit the highest RPM is now around 2,900 but sure didn't have the feeling of before the correction. ;)



Definitely ECM controlled.
