how to include front/rear window defrost with remote start

Good evening, Gentlemen:

Today, C. Carpenter asked me a good question about the new 2022 3500 Limited Longhorn he is driving. He is loving the remote start, including preheating his seat and steering wheel when it is colder out. However, today he asked me if there was a way to also have the front and rear window defrost to come on with the remote start...anyone know if this is possible? If so, how?

He'll have to set it to windshield defrost with the fan set on high, for the rear window defrost, not sure. On my truck when I remote start, mirror heat comes on when below about 37 degrees. The rear window defrost might do the same thing. I know the first cold remote start, was surprised to see the mirror heat on as it's not able to be turned on without pressing switch. Owners manual may provide somw help. Hopefully others will chime in as I'm a few model years back on all the new features/tech! Glad he's enjoying the truck!!!!!!!!!

It should already do it automatically as it cannot be enabled or disabled, it just happens.

The rear window defrost button activates both the mirrors and rear window.

Page 25 of the owners manual details the remote start comfort systems and how they operate based on ambient temp.

Basically if the temp is low enough for the seat/steering wheel heat to come on then the front/rear defrost circuits are activated. When the ignition is turned on following a remote start the climate control return to their previous settings and the rear defrost circuit, seat/steering wheel heat stay on.

From the factory,.. Mine below (40F I think) will turn on the seats, steering wheel, and defrost circuits with remote start... When you get in an push the "button" the high defrost will return to the original last setting (ie AUTO, FAN, etc....) I decided to turn off the seat heaters and steering wheel and they only now automatically come on with remote start as I was constantly turning them off when its cold out every time I started the truck (non-remote start)... I plan to look into apha-obd to see if I can do something there, but there are many configuration changes that can be made through the 12" screen for these setting... can set on off for cooled seats, pass seats, headlights, wipers... the list goes on.. I am still playing with the ones I can change w/o alpha.. but soon will go in deeper.
