I've searched for the method to change the ATF-4 in my '05 G-56 transmission. I've not yet found specifics. Klenger's x-fer case maint. example was excellent. I would appreciate the benefit of your knowledge.

the g56 is easy. it has a drain plug. just pull let drain. tighten back up pull plug on side and fill to it comes out. the case is aluminum so you don't want to get the plugs to tight. get a cheap pump from a auto parts store and pump out you're quarts with the pump in to the side of trans. i hope this helps. by the way a lot of oils would be suitable for this trans. but warranty concerns may keep you with atf-4

I will only add to make sure the fill plug isn't galled in the case before you pull the drain plug...

I'm glad I don't have to drill a drain hole! ( just kidding ) Let me ask for elaboration. If I lie beneath the trans ( head toward engine ) where is the drain ( right or left , high or low ) plug and where is the fill plug? And thanks to STEVED for sage advice.

drain plug is in the center of the transmission in the rear. fill plug is on passanger side. you will need a 18mm allen wrench or socket. i had to get one from snap-on for like $80!! amsoil makes a sweet pump for changing the fluids. i used amsoil universal atf. it quited the transmission alot at idle! hope this helps... . james :D
