How to turn a '04 QuadCab into a Mega?

Now aside from the obvious way to make this happen - trade the truck in for a new Megacab - how and where would I go to add another 6" - 12" into the cab of my quad cab?

I must be looking in the wrong places because I couldnt even find pictures on the web, except for limo style.

Basically what I am up against is this... . I love my '04. 5, it only has 25k miles on it, it is paid for and I am just now getting it the way I like it - but I would sure love some more backseat room for the kids.

Give me some ideas, pictures, links - whatever you know of.

Thanks a ton!!!

Is yours a longbox or short? If longbox and you dont mind goin to a shortbed, you could try to find a cab from a Mega, possibly one with frame damage or something like that, and then put the shortbox on it. This way you could sell your quad cab and longbox to recuperate some cost. Or you could have the cab itself lengthened and either the bed shortened or frame lengthened to compensate. Kelderman lengthened the cab and shortened the bed on their red dually Big Red built for SEMA '03; Alton Company did the work. They did this before the Megas even came out...

If you put a Megacab on that short frame, you'd end up with a 4 foot box. Even if you custom fab a longer cab, your bed would oddly small. Quite a quandry. Good luck!

Stretching the frame is the easiest part of the job! There used to be a shop next to my old shop that built limos and stretched all kind of vehicles (my fav was a 59 Caddy). All things considered, stretching the frame and driveline is easy.

Finding a Megacab in useful condition is going to be the hard part. You could stretch the cab any way you want... providing you want to spend the money to do it.

I know to stretch a Mega into a LB Mega is around $5000. That includes the 8' bed, driveline, brake lines, etc. Through a Mega cab cab into the mix, and it might be getting close to $10,000+. OUCH! Of course, you could get the bigger fuel tank too! Bonus!:-laf

What about stretching the frame a foot or so and putting that into the cab and leaving the bed the same? Any ideas on cost for this?

You can look at the alton companies website under trucks. Toward the bottom there is an 04 that was stretched 1 foot. Looks like what you are kind of looking for. It was done for the guy that I bought my crew cab from. It is a nice truck.
