Its a little split ring that holds the silencer ring in there. You take a pick or a small flat head screw driver where the snap ring comes together, and get it lifted up enough to get another(or anything else small and flat) under it. Then pop it out. easy stuff also if you swap out the stock airbox, if you havent already, it will make it a lot louder as well. good luck to ya
 
Take off the hose from the airbox to the turbo. The ring is held in by a big split ring. Use a small screwdriver (carefully), put it in the gap in the split ring and lift it out. The silencer ring will come right out. Don't scratch anything with the driver. I saw on one of the parts places that a turbo w/a silencer ring is about $100 more!

i have a straight pipe (4") and a scotty II, no silencer ring on my stock turbo and i think thats about as loud as it gets in stock form it sounds sweet!!!!
