I have new truck, and want to polish out, to "shiny", the stainless steel tip (I think it's stainless).

Anyone done this? How?

Thanks.

Glass cleaner is so perfect for that job. Stay away from polish. All that stuff does is put micro scratches in the metal.

Jeff

Are you talking about windex or similar product?

Just spray and hand polish/rubbing process?

thanks

How much additional horse power do you get from the chrome plated exhaust tips, or does that only work on PSD's?

Jeff... . caught me napping :), but I'll be more careful in the future.

klenger... . I'll post my dyno results next week. Less drag should show increase.

Thomas and Hemi-dart... . thanks for the helpful info. I thought I had read where someone had used some sort of buffer to really get the dull finish off. I spent about 30 min. with Hollywood's metal polish and got a much better look.

Hello all, I have a mustang too, and I learned a few tricks from those guys about polishing, etc. The stock tip is aluminum. Get some 600 and 1000 wet or dry sandpaper. Start with the 600 grit and sand it to smooth, using water. Then go to the 1000 doing the same thing. Once you are all done use some aluminum polish. It should polish to mirror finish. I havent done it to mine yet but will be in the next couple of days. You might have to start with 400 or so to get the aluminum nice and smooth.

24V-DSL,

I think its galvanized steel tailpipe. If it is, a Scoth-Brite pad and any number of cleaners will shine it right up. It will end up with a Stainless Steel type shine.
