New 600 exhaust...

This is a "How TO" question for the TST box users. If you had a bone stock 600 except for exhaust and a TST box,... what would you run it on empty? With 15k 5ver? Let's say the majority of you tell me empty I could run 3 hp and 4 tq safely. Can you say when your in high gear bump both up say if your on cruise,. . as in not throttling the truck? What about when your towing,... same example but say getting the load moving and getting to highway speed say you could run 1 or 2 on hp and 2 or 3 on tq,. . could you then bump it to 3hp and 4 tq when towing on cruise to flatten out those hills? I have plans to go with a trans and turbo upgrade soon, but this is for now and have a couple trips planned. Need some insight???

I don't have a 600 but I never tow with Te higher than 3 or Hp higher than 4. 3:3 is my preferance and 4:4 or 5:5 empty. It just comes on so strong at the bottom in the higher settings the whole trucks starts to shake and you can't really feather it on the high settings.

There is not much pint to bumping up once up to speed because if you need that kind of power you'll be pushing the EGT envelope.

I run mine on 4/4 empty because I can stomp just about any other rig at that level. I run 3/3 when towing because TST says anything above that may wear on the drive train and it doesn't need any more power anyway. The hills I used to climb in 5th (stock) pulling a 4k trailer I can now sail over in 6th with a 7k TT.

I'm towing on 2/2; but I've cheated a bit on my boost so I'm making 35lbs at that setting.

Around town; 3/3; sometimes 5/3 when I'm looking for a powerjoke to stomp. Anything over 3/3 is dicey on stock truck.

TDR Gathering

OT-OF-HERE,

Pack that truck up and drive here for the TDR gathering on the 10th of July (Elk River MN).

If you didn't try the VA boxes yet, you can give it a whirl. There will be a dyno there (a portable mustang).

What's elk river near? I may do that. I have tried the VA and it's too hot for towing my 15k 5ver. I had it on for a few weeks and the first setting was fine for street but not for the high setting and not for towing. Not a good match for the 600. I'm thinking the TST on low settings should be good as I've talked to several who have 600s and they tell me it's good for towing on low settings. I am gonna go with a FASS, Turbo and transmission upgrade so I see 5/5 in my future. It would be neat to meet a bunch of the guys and baseline my truck on the dyno.

I know that feeling. I had TST's "comp" program in my PMCR for a few days and it was not useable with my stock turbo. Setting 1 was fine but I don't think I could have even towed on 2. Egt's were an issue on 3. It's a hot program.

Since you went to the normal TST as opposed to the Comp program, has it been better for everyday usage?

Oh yes. The comp progrmam they have will supply more fuel on setting 3 than the normal program does on 5. It also comes on a little stronger at the bottom to help spool larger turbos. Read that STRONGER ON THE BOTTOM END! As if it needs that! The normal program I feel safe towing up through setting 3 but that comp program I'm not sure I could have towed on 2. I really like having a choice of power setting with a load so I went back the sain program.
