OK, here is the scene. During the 200 mile trip to my brother's house with the 97 Dodge towing our 24 FT flatbed trailer, my wife remarked several times that she didn't think I could get the rig up his narrow driveway, Our course I can!! Do I need to get on with the end of this story and why is it that a road can get VERY busy when you are half in and half out of a driveway and blocking both lanes of traffic?? Did I also mention that the driveway entrance has very substantial stone columns on each side?? OK,I hit one of the stone columns with my right front trying to get my a$$ out of the driveway. Luckily, all I did was tear the rubber tingy on top of the bumper. (More damage to my pride than anything)Now my question --how does this thing come off so I can replace it??? Do you have any idea how many "I told you so's" you can hear on a 200 mile trip back home!! Thanks

Remove upper bumper finish mldg

I feel your pain. To get the upper mldg. off you first take the two side rivets may be plastic or metal I have seen both they are located on the back edge of the bumper then you just pry it up and off. The mldg. is held on with plastic clips that are heat welded to the part. But once you take the part off it will not go back on because the clips will break off. good luck

not true on the clips! The clips can be accessed from the back of the bumper. The clips are pyrimid shaped with protruding ears. Push the ears in and push the clip out of its hole. Do the rest as stated by SSchirmers. If you get the top molding off with out breaking the clips, it is a good spare unless it's totally trashed.

Them clips are a pain in the a**. I had some break(heat weld gave up)and I got mad and broke some more. So I took it off and JB weld them back on. So far there still holding. WDaniels is right about being able to get to the clips from the back of the bumper. I just pushed them clips together with by fingers and then pushed the clip through the bumper.

Mine was like WD's. I took mine off when I installed my fog lights. I was able to pop the clips out very easily with a screwdriver and use them again. It buttoned back up quite nicely.

Ischultz,

You got JB weld to hold?? Mine kept breaking off. So I just broke down and went and got all 3 pieces from the stealers, had them painted and will go on this weekend.

WD-I let it dry overnight, cleaned it off good before I put it on. I see they have come out with a new jb weld now. I think it drys in 5 mins. Got some but I haven't used it yet. I was to tight to pay what they wanted for the black rubber cover if- I was quoted the correct amout.

What were you guys quoted /are paying for a rubber cover?

Mine had something spilled on it before I got the truck and it's looking worse as the years roll by - wondering if it is worth replacing it sometime?

Dan

Don't hold me to this but I thought mopar4less.com quoted me a price of 90. 00 whatever it was I thought it was to much thats why I got the jb weld.

I paid 192. 00 for all three pieces of the plastic on the front bumper. Then paid another 75. 00 to have the large gray piece painted flat black.
