Both on this board and in the many "water cooler" conversations I have been privy to today I have heard many reactions to and opinions on what should be done concerning the tragedy which has occurred today. My thoughts may **** you off, but I live in a free country, so here goes:

-We should not repeat the hatred of perceived enemy as we did with Americans of other ancestry after World War II. Like it or not, an American is an American.

-We should not judge the passengers who died in the planes, wondering why they did nothing. We were not there, and our talk of what they should have done is disrespectful and cheapens their lives. Their honor and memory should be kept sacred.

-We should honor all who have and will die in relation to this event. Policemen, Firemen, Secretary's, Janitors... all son's and daughters/wives and husbands..... Americans.

-Those of us who are Christian should honor our religion, and it's teachings (for those of us who are, this needs no explanation).

-We should demand a statment of support, positive or negative, from every country on this planet. There is no room for a middle ground in this situation.

-We should not ask how this could have happened without even a trace of a warning... if you do not know why, then you haven't been keeping up with current events for the past 20 years. The constant reduction in funding to programs which support our overseas intelligence gathering helped balance many a budget, now we have to pay the price.

-We should not wonder how these attackers managed to board a plane with weapons. We who enjoy our freedom, being able to arrive at an airport 15 minutes before it leaves. It is often said, but rarely understood: freedom has a price.

-We should not lash out at those whom we presume to be responsible, we should eliminate all those who are responsible. From the actors themselves to those who provided them aid and shelter. They are all our enemies.

-We should be patient... justice will be served. Remember, "Revenge is a dish best served cold".

don't misunderstand me

I'm not saying not to do anything, let's just make sure we have the right people. Hell, I'm already working on a design for the flag of our 51st state... or would that be the commonwealth of (insert guilty country here).

Whomever the guilty country is, I have a feeling that after we welcome our newest conquered land into the union, our oil troubles will be over.

IF the strongest suspicions are correct (they are still ONLY suspicions) you need to ask 3 questions:

1. what is the temperature like in Kabul (what do I need to wear)?

2. Where do we get our Afgani license plates?

3. What straps/ tiedowns do I need to transport the cruise missiles???
