How to read hour meter ?

Can anyone out there enlighten me on how to read the hour meter. Does it require a scantool or is it as simple as reading codes?

Hour Meter

Tyler, this is from my "03" manual.

² Engine Hours Display Toggling - When the

trip odometer reset switch button is pressed and held

for longer than about six seconds with the ignition

switch in the On position and the engine speed message

from the PCM is zero, the trip odometer information

will be momentarily displayed, then the

engine hours information will be displayed. The VFD

must be displaying the odometer information when

the trip odometer reset switch button is pressed in

order to toggle to the engine hours display. The

engine hours will remain displayed for about thirty

seconds, until the engine speed message is greater

than zero, or until the ignition switch is turned to

the Off position, whichever occurs first.

Turn on key push trip button on speedometer to read truck milage not trip trip milage push agin and hold about 15-30 sec

Can anyone out there enlighten me on how to read the

hour meter. Does it require a scantool or is it as simple as reading codes?

Ya I hear ya, I had it for the first time into the dealer for U joints about a month ago and the replaced them under warranty and did not give me any crap. But that would be a hard sell if something major went wrong, avg of 24. 8 mph.
