I had to by pass the clutch safety switch to be able to start. I ordered a new switch and now looking at it I can't figure how to get the old one out and the new one in. One book I have says you can't do it. But if they sell the switch there must be a way. Any help is appreciated.

Do you see a white retainer? Pinch the two wing tabs in a bit and slide the retainer off.

DO NOT REMOVE THE PUSH ROD.

Start by sliding the switch on from the pedal end at an angle onto the push rod, compress the springs a little bit and snap the firewall end onto the pushrod. Switch should slide back and forth compressing the spring. Install white retainer.

This is what the 4th or 5th switch inquiry lately, wow.

Thanks, it worked like a charm.. I also found a Jeep video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgZ0CDY1Xyg that has the same switch so I was able to see it done. Talk about little to mo room to move up in there. A few choice words and scrapes and I got her done.

Must have the world famous Haynes / chilton manual ?

They aren't a bad manual and it's nice to have it for simple quick reference but for not much more you can get a factory service manual
