I took my truck to the car (truck) wash recently and on the way home must have driven through wet concrete that was on the road (sometimes it spills from overloaded trucks around here). Anyway, it was on the passenger side only and I did not notice until the next week when I took the truck out of the garage. Does anyone know how to remove it without damaging the paint?

I have been trying to remove dried concrete on my truck for over a year... . :( I have tried everything. I think it is a lost cause unfortunately. :{

A local TDR member had the same thin happen. He just handed it over to his insurance and had the entire truck repainted.

Same thing happened to me

I used a 34%-33%-33% mix of diesel fuel, Auto transmission fluid and marvel mystry oil in a spray container, spray 3-4 times aday for about a week, you want to keep it wet! after the week you should be able to pick it off with your finger nail depending on how thick the concrete is, the application may take longer. good luck...

Old concrete.........

Actually all is not lost. After being a Cement contractor for 20 years, I have run into this on a regualr basis and there are a few things you can do. First, you didn't say how heavy the splash was, so I will give you both methods. First if it is light, grab some Vinegar from the wifes kitchen. Put some in a spray bottle and apply to the spots or splash. If it is a light "shadow" like splash, this shoud take it off. However, if you got the real heavy duty chunk stuff stuck on the paint, you will need the heavy stuff. Find someone with a pool and borrow some muratic acid (that's right, acid) and put it in your spray bottle. Get your hose and put your truck in the street or in the dirt, not your concrete driveway!!! Spray the affected area and after the concrete starts to bubble for a few moments, wash it off with a hose. The acid will counter the alkali in the cement and make it wash off easily. The precautions you need to take are not to get it on unpainted metal (like chrome or alloy wheels) or on rubber (would stain it, not eat it). The acid will not harm the paint, and a coat of wax after your done is all that is needed. Cement truck owner/operators have used this for years to keep their expensive investments on the road. This is also useful in lightening oil stains on the concrete driveway, and as long as it is washed off right away, will not harm the surface of the concrete. Be careful not to get it on your clothes (unless you like the tie-dye look) and wear rubber gloves. It is effective, and cheap, and will do the job better than any commercial cleaner.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but it really works. Be safe, Sarge :D

Look for a prduct called C. L. R. , thay sell it in places like Wal-Mart, K-mart, Target, and Wallgreens. I have had this happen tome before and used this product to remove it. I will say this, test it in an inconspicuous area first... just in case, but I have not had any problems using that product on the paint on the truck. :D

The best way is like Sarge said muriatic acid. I used this on the readymix trucks when I used to mechanic for them never hurt the paint. But be sure not to use it while on a concrete driveway it will eat holes if not washed right off.

Thanks Sarge! Two applications of muriatic acid with the spray bottle and hose, and my black ram is all black again!!! Thanks again.
