I drove through a construction zone where they were cutting some concrete. They had the water run off running accross the street, and of course it coated my rockers on both sides. I did not get a chance to rinse it off for a couple days until I got home, and guess what, it will not come off.

Any ideas?

"Lime away" Used it to remove cement from an aluminum hopper bottom. Just try a small spot before recklessly applying it to the entire truck.

How about having the rockers coated with Line-X (or some such) and don't bother removing the cement? I think that's what I'd do.

I think I'd start with the construction company (if they're still there) and ask what they suggest to get THEIR mess off YOUR truck. Nicely, of course. :D

Suggestion - contact a local ready-mix concrete supplier, they may very well have a chemical they use to clean concrete residue from their own trucks that they could recommend. I know such a product exists, and have used some before cleaning concrete from surfaces, just don't remember the brand or name.

The muriatic acid (Hydrocloric acid) will work well. As to the clear coat - it hasn't hurt the Fords or Chevys or Dodges where I work. I supervise several lime plants (an ingredient in concrete) and we regularly use acid to get the lime off the vehicles with no ill effects. One word of caution - do NOT get the acid on any chrome finish, metal or plastic, or rims or yourself for that matter. It will blue the chrome and dull the finish of the rims if they are not clear coated.

Vinegar will also work as it is a weak acid; but it takes a lot longer and more elbow grease. The fingernail treatment will be harder on the finish than the acid will.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to try the vinegar first, as I am a little afraid of the muriatic acid. I have used muriatic before to clean grout on tile floors.

When you say do not get it on plastic, I assume you mean unpainted plastic, right? The door ding savers which are painted from the facotry would be OK.
