I haven't been able to snag a service manual yet, but want to put my upgrade factory CD unit in for an upcoming trip. Can anybody give me a clue on how to remove the trim on the dash to get to the radio?
This statement ^^^^^^ is TRUE. I believe there are four?? screws all together in ashtray and cupholder, then pull gently all around the whole trim area and it will come off.
Yep four screws, ashtray + cupholder. Use a flathead screwdriver and lightly pry the trim around the edge, you`ll find the tension clips.
3/8" socket for the radio lag screws. .
Get the plug-in harness adapters for your new radio. . much better than hackin up the originals, and the extra length makes it real easy to install.
Do a quick ohm check on all your speakers before installation to be sure theyre all in good shape. Best to check it rather than blow a channel out of your head unit.
OK, thanks lots guys, with that info I am ready to tackle it. Current radio/casette factory works like a new one, but I bought a cassette and CD upgrade, original equipment, to be able to play my estensive CD collection when truckin. If everybody has told the truth, the CD unit will plug right up to the original harness.
