I've got 4 ISSPRO gauges in an overhead mount waiting to be hooked up. Problem I am having is that my 2006 has the "HUGE" rearview mirror with the built in UConnect system. The overhead mount touches the mirror and I need to lower the mirror about 1/2 inch. How do you remove the glued on mirror mount "button" without destroying your windshield????

I don't know that I've ever tried. The one in my old Chevrolet used to fall off on a yearly basis!

You might try dribbling some acetone around the edges of the mount. That is what they suggest to remove super glue. It might break the bond. Another thing is you could look at a package of rearview mirror adhesive and see what it recommends cleaning up with and try dribbling that around the edges.

Good luck!

Funny, every Chevy car I've ever owned they fell off on their own also. You might call a glass shop if the acetone doesn't work maybe they have a tip. Be careful using acetone since it does melt some plastics.

If its is the standard size you could get a new mount at the auto parts store and install it lower. Maybe you could leave the old one on the windshield and hopefully the gauges will cover it up. Less chance of damaging that shiny new windshield... .

I had an answer for ya until ya got to that point.

My '01 had the auto dimming mirror and I hated it. Driving home headed East one evening I couldn't hardly see the road 'cause the mirror wouldn't dim and the sun was blasting me right in the eyes. I grabbed the mirror, turned it 90* and pulled. Yanked a little inside piece of the windshield clean off. Left it for a few days while I tried to figure something out. I ended up getting some mirror glue and gluing the broken piece with mirror button still attached back in place. Couldn't tell anything had ever happened. Man did I feel stupid. I never thought that glue was that strong.

This is beginning to look like the best solution... so far! :)

Please ask some auto glass people first but I remember them using a lighter to remove & replace one of mine years ago.
