RV'er of the YEAR...

16K SuperGlide in a Mega Cab

I dropped my 5er on to the bed of my pickup last week. Surprisingly enough, it didn't seriously damage anything, but did shatter the gelcoat on my fiver where it hit the sides of the bed of my pickup. It just shattered it. Didn't get into the fabric. I was thinking maybe I could repair it myself, but not sure how? Any help would be appreciated.

This is sound advice and a good fix and I'm glad you found it and posted it for others to benefit from your experience.

What happened to you has happened to many 5th wheel owners. What can we do to prevent it. When I had a 5th wheel, I made up a check list. A step by step procedure, which is a carry over from my military days. My wife reads it off as we hitch and unhitch. There is so much to try to remember on these RV's. I did the same thing with the cab-over-camper. The reason I did this is that once I forgot to unplug the 110 electric cord, once I forgot to lower the TV antenna, once I forgot to close the windows and once I forgot to secure the refrigerator door. A check list works for us.
