I just had my fuel pressure tested today at my local diesel shop, and i had 6lbs at idle ( i think ). the mechanic told me i had better get a lift pump. So i did.

Now i need to get thing on there and was hoping for some advice, tips , and tricks.

Thanks

Jeremiah

Do what I did. Take it to a good diesel shop. I think God made people for specific purposes. Being a mechanic isn't in my genes. Only took them 30 minutes. Covered by warranty.

Its really a pretty straightforward job. I honestly am not a great mechanic and heck this is my first diesel. I was able to change it in about 30min without a manual or anything. Just basic wrenching is required. Really... its an easy job.

DONE!!! I got tired of waitng on replies and just started in. I finished in about 30 minutes. it was a ***** getting my arms in there. Would of been nice to have that list of step by step instructions. But that doesn't really matter now that its done.

Thanks for all the advice for nxt time,

Jeremiah

Did you look in 24V frequently asked questions posted at the top of the 24V forum page?? The instructions are posted since this is a common topic to post. Lots of good info there.

Did mine with few mechanical skills at 30K miles. I hopefully added insurance on the future of the new lift pump ($168. 00 w/tax). I called Wild Cat Diesel and had them send me their Banjo eliminator kit.

Install time + standing on my head time + figurin time + I don't believe I did that time + screwin-up the fuel line time I would say it took me four hours to do the new lift pump and banjo kit.

Only in America!

MSwanson... . That sounds exactly like me when I installed my Max Flow Kit. I also had the pleasure of being baptised at the same time. When I took off the rubber/plastic line from the hard line under the truck, I received my first diesel shower  . And then, like an idiot, I just sat there letting out a long string of curses ( as I continued my bathing in diesel ) instead of sliding my new 3/8's rubber hose over the hard line, Duh !!

Gave my Fiance an exscuse for not cuddling with me  .

Big Mike please explain

"Take it to a good diesel shop... . Covered by warranty... "

I thought only dealership could perform warranty work.

I did not think the lift pump, alternator, starter , filters, and other limited life items were covered by the 100k cummins warranty.

Is this warranty only good a Dodge? or can a cummins shop do it?
