My '07 2500 4x4 Cummins truck's shift cable seems to be worn out: a couple of times it has popped off the transmission shifter leaving me with a "limp shift lever" (no comments!!) at the steering column. A few other times it has not fully moved the transmission gear selector (on the transmission) into park, so the neutral safety switch does not allow the engine to restart. This forces me to climb under the truck and either reattach the cable to the gear selector, or push the shift lever by hand to engage the neutral safety switch. I therefore try not to park in puddles. Where can I get a new shift cable, and what is the process for replacing it?
Thanks!
Paul

Unless the supply has changed the cable is on national back order, not easily available. Wrecking yard may be a source or you modify the connection point to use a pin instead of a ball and socket.
