Can anyone tell me the best way to replace my lower ball joints on a 4x4 RAM?

What all should be token apart and how, should I press the old one upwards to get it out from the steering knucle? May the axle shaft remain in its place,or should I take it out to replace the lower ball stud?

As well the torque specs. for the lower ball stud nut.

Can there be told any good about the lower ball studs made by FALCON steering systems, p/nK8607 should be the same as TRW#104149; M-N#FA1754 and Spicer #505-1181.

I’ve paid $40 each,mopar 4 less wanted $150 each.

Thanks for your response,I’m new to the Dodgeland

You will have to take rotors/bearing assembly out to take them out. You will need a big socket for the axle nut and it may be seized. Then the bearing/rotor assembly is held in with 4 bolts from the back. They are a 12 pt pattern, don't remember the socket size. Be careful not to pull bearing assembly apart (serviced as a unit) as you take it out (may be stuck, loosen by pounding on the bolts from the back. Once this is out pull the axleshaft gently out to keep from damaging the oil seal at the pumpkin. Take off the outer part of the axle (with the ball joints). They are tapered shafts and require pounding or pressing. Install same as removal. Use antisieze compound on d*** near everything!

And dont worry about the axel tube leaks after you finish. 9 out of 10 of them go away after a feww hundred miles:cool:
