Is this just a matter of disconnecting the batteries?

Regarding APPS calibration. I believe you are suppost to disconnect the batteries for 30 minutes (turn on key to drain everything). Reconnect, turn key to run, slowly depress the go peddle and release it, and then turn the key back off. Then drive it - like you stole it.

The "Drive it like you stole it" is the most important part!!!

According to my shop manual, you turn on the key to run but not start, slowly press the pedal to the floor and slowly release it, that is all.

I tried disconnecting for 1 hour and it was not enough had to do it overnight for it to work properly. Do a search and read a few threads, you'll get the idea

ditto the lonnnnng disconnect. the only time i've noticed a difference (four attempts) is leaving the batteries disco'd for 12 hours with the key on. key off, reconnect batteries, key to run (not started) and depress the throttle SLOWLY through its full range one time. key off for a few minutes. DRIVE IT!

APPS= Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor it is also referred to as TPS or Throttle Position Sensor.

The APPS/TPS sends an electric signal to the ECM depending upon where the accelerator pedal position is while operating

iI have the the po 122 code . did the battery thing overnight. re set the apps. good for a few days. bought a new apps today d/c part number 53031575AH retail price in canada 635. 00 plus 14% tax. I paid 508. 00 plus tax. hope it make you guys in the usa feel better about paying 400. 00. had a problem with my Alex Pepper code reader. sent cable back to them and they sent new one no charge ,after two years.
