how to run a tachometer

i would like to instal a tach in my 90 and don't know where to begin, i called a local starter/alternator shop about it because i have heard you wire it up through that and he said he can set the alternator up for it but doesn't know anything past that and i'm not sure if i will need anything else or just buy a tach and wire it up.

Get the Isspro adjustable one. It is designed to power off several different sources. The best way is with the alternator. It will have several switches inside the tach for exact drive rpm.

I hae a 92 model . Ibought my tach from Summit . It had a band to go around the alt. It works fine. The only thing is you havfe to calibrate it. I used a hand held tackometer to calabrate it. I put a piece of shiny tape on the harmonic balancer and set the tack like that.
