After reading Parcher's thread about all the shady goings-on at dealerships, I was left rather depressed about my own upcoming purchase of an '03.

My question is this: how can you tell if you're at a "good" dealership? (Besides the dodgeram. info site, which is rather lacking in info about any of my local dealers).

Is there some magical question you can ask, the answer to which will reveal the dealer's true nature? How can you tell if the guy you're talking to has any integrity whatsoever?

I know the answers to these questions are rather subjective, but I'm curious about how others have decided upon which dealer is the "right" one.

Seriously, I think you'll just have to do a bit of legwork. Talk to their management and ask to see their customer satisfaction replies. Talk to the service manager and find out what he and his mech's know about the product their dealer sells. Check the local Better Business Bureau for complaints. You might want to consider having the dealer find the truck to your specs. That usually cuts down the cost passed on to you. Be patient and persistent before the buy. Let them know that you are not one to be trifled with and if they want your money, they are going to have to earn it, before you sign on the dotted line. If possible, I would have pre-approved financing. We bought our 5'ver that way. I wish I would have bought more of my vehicles this way. Good luck.
