How to tell if BOMB'ed

Drove a 93 W250 tonight, turbo was very loud, louder than my 95 , and louder than my 91 was if I remember right. This 93 has an aftermarket tach, but the exhaust looks stock. What else to check? I heard that the late 91s were intercooled (which mine was ) and made less boost than the 89-91s and in 92 they upped the boost from the factory to compensate for the intercooler. Could this explain the louder whistling on the 93? The 93 would walk away from my catless 95.

Turbo Housing??

Sounds like someone has been tinkering with the exhaust housing and possibly injectors. Either one is stealth looking at the unit without disassembly...
