Hi first-genners, I have a question for you guys. I've been admiring a lot of '89-'93's that I see driving around the greater Seattle area. There's a lot of them up here! I must admit, I don't know much about the '89-'93's, but I want to learn more. Here's my question: Is there a way I can tell which year is which when I see one on the street? Is there a difference in the grilles, badges, etc. that I can look for?
Thanks, Andy

Hi Andy.

The '89's and '90's have a grey grille that
has rectangular openings and it is flat.

The fender baging that has the 150, 250, 350 model designation put the number in a "box" in relatively small lettering.

If it is a 4X4 then the wording POWER RAM will all have the same size letters.

The 89's had a RAM hood ornament.

Also a badge for the Cummins is on the tailgate.

For these years the SE models had a brushed aluminum accent panel that covered just the center 30% of the tailgate.

The 91's-93's have a smooth chrome grille with four openings and a black plastic insert in each operning.

Fender badging for the 150, 250, 350 designation is very similar to the new trucks in lettering style.

If a 4X4 the word "POWER" in "POWER RAM" will have smaller letters than the word "RAM".

There is no Cummins badge on the tailgate.

If an LE (replaced SE desigation) model the tailgate will have a large brushed panel with the word "DODGE" in black letters stamped in it. It covers more than 75% of the tailgate sheet metal.

Another way that I use to tell on older cars their years was by looking at their tail lights. They usually have a '92' or whatever year it is stamped on it as part of the part number. Not sure if that holds true for the trucks. I haven't even looked at mine to see... . LOL. Too busy driving it. .

Doesn't the 93 model have honeycomb in the grill??? I know that the 91,92 have the slotted vents in the grill.
Not sure.....
In Canada, the '90's have daytime running lights. Mine doesn't. #ad

Hi Jason.

My '93 has the slotted vents. When I looked into purchasing those vents the dealer only showed those kind.

If you see one with honeycombs it may be that someone customized the grille.

When did Canada start requiring the lights?

Have a good weekend!
