Looking real hard at upgrading injectors and HX40 16cm in the next few months. I hear other members saying that EGT's are an issue and that they need to tow at 2500 rpm instead of 2000rpm in order to keep temps in check.

I want more power, but don't want to sacrifice the towing capability and mpg.

current set-up BHAF, Edge comp (untapped), guages (in my garage redy to install), 2001 HO, 4. 10 gears. I tow less than 8k about 40% the rest I am empty. Live in a city, so traffic happens... hoping to not give up too much spool time.

was thinking of 60-100 HP injectors and the HX40, and an exhuast. I have a stock clutch, and would "de-fuel" with the comp to accomodate injectors.

any advice?

With the comp in EZ mode, and some 100hp injectors, I don't see EGT being a problem with an HX40. They will be higher than they are now but it shouldn't hurt anything. Except for your clutch, you'll probably want to look into an OFE.

yeah, a clutch is on my list and I think that injectors and the clutch will go in the same time. will an HX40 and edge comp work okay together? Should I run it at 3x3 or higher unless towing? or should I just do it all at the same time?

I agree with RJPotts. A set of efficient 100 HP injectors, and the COMP in EZ mode, and keeping the engine between 1800 and 2300 RPM you will be fine.

FYI, I towed a busted DMX (broke his ATS transmission) from Spokane WA to Portland OR with my truck, and EGT was never an issue... . average speed was 60 MPH, ambient air temp averaged 100F, the AC was crankin, gear are 3. 55.

I was running between 1600 and 2300 RPM depending on if I was in 6th or 5th.

I ran 6th on the flats, and 5th on the hills. I was able to keep EGT below 1200F very easily.
