2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission how to troubleshoot airbag?

Did some minor work on the front-end and when done my airbag light stayed on. Figured I must have over turned the wheel so I tried to reset the clockspring. That wasn't successful so i bought a new one from NAPA.

Juzt finished the installation and when i start the truck the light comes on then after a few seconds goes out. Then it comes back on again and stays on. So evidently i have a problem some where else. Does anyone know the diagnostic procedure for the airbag system?

Sure would appreciate any help especially as the truck is due this month for state inspection!
