New "Profile" Feature request

Daylight savings time change

I keep noticing postings from newer members regarding "How do I ..... install gages, change fuel filters, install injectors, oil sampling, etc.
Howesabout a forum/section on DITY? It could answer alot of questions rapidly. Also a Specification area (oil cap. , rear end cap. , etc) could be helpful.

BTW the forum clocks are 1 hour behind due to DST

Almost, but you get A LOT of irrelevant hits due to everybody's signatures. If you search for gauges, especially a particular brand, you get over 200 hits, most of which aren't what the searcher was looking for. This is why I favor short signatures without a lot details. Those details should be contained in the user profiles.

Maybe the Administrators can create an archive of the posts that most Newbies could search. Would require a lot of time and effort on the part of the TDR staff, and I believe most of the Admin's are volunteers. Don't know what the best answer is however.....

I'm asking cuz' although I'm a gearhead from way back, I've been dragged kicking and screaming into this 21st century thing called the internet by necessity. If I'm looking for the fluid cap. for the rear end I don't need to search through 300+ postings about aftermarket covers and such. My factory "bible" just came in the mail yesterday, but everyone doesn't have one. I wouldn't expect to see step by step instructions for rebuilding an injection pump, but how to change the oil, filter, or fuel filter and such may be helpful to some of the newer, more "mechanicaly challenged" members.
