Thanks to everyone for coming down to the event and for helping to make it a success. Thanks should go out to Fireman Dave, Extreme1, and a whole list of others for making all of the logistics happen so flawlessly. Everyone pitched in to help us keep everything moving well. Thanks again.
We should also thank the many sponsors of this event. Edge products, Piers Diesel Research, South Bend Clutch, Fast Coolers (Thanks again Verlyn), LaCrosse Diesel Services, Technical Services (couldn't be done without docdyno's help), Geno's Garage, and GB transmissions for allowing us to beat on their dyno for two days. Remember these guys when you want to start with mods or get parts for your trucks. They treated us pretty good, so we should do the same. If nothing else, give them a call and let them know that what they donated was appreciated.
We tripled our donation this year for charity. With the runs on Sunday we broke the $1200 mark. That's pretty good, considering that we had, what, 19 trucks hit the dyno? That's quite a donation per truck. Not to mention those who didn't hit the dyno.
For those of you who ran on the dyno and want to analyze the numbers from the dyno, drop me an email -- email address removed -- and I will send it to you. Please include your real name.
Sunday we ran Roadwarrior's truck again and modified some things to see if we could get it to stick to the rollers. No such luck. The dyno would only get to a paltry 402. 7 HP (which is better than we could register last year) and then the tires would start to slip and the run was ruined. Wally19 turned in 392 HP and then his tires went for a ride. It was pretty cool. I didn't run because I know my tires won't hold. I broke them loose at 381HP while testing and couldn't get any improvement.
After we were finished on Sunday, I started talking to Dave about future developments with that dyno. I'm gonna take it easy for a while before we start to monkey with it, but I think he is considering a new set of rollers. 100" (and knurled) I think. We were also talking about replacing the cabinet with a computer controlled unit to facilitate a more precise ability to measure power. He also stated that he is seriously considering purchasing a set of slicks for us. We'll see how things go. I do know that he was very happy with the data interface device we had and how it could log data. So things can only get better. If we have computer control, it'd be much easier to test automatics too.
Other than that, I was very happy with the way dinner turned out (thanks Lurch for them "cool" sausages). Everyone brought something very good and nobody brought the same stuff. We even had lime green Jello (courtesy of Mrs. Extreme1).
I had a great time seeing everyone again. Getting advice on how to treat my new camper (the maiden voyage went well, with only a few hiccups). Now I've got to get the camper ready (repaired) to go for Muncie (if I can find a spot to put it). I hope to see some of you guys there then.
I hope that a good time was had by all. I promise it will be as good or better next year.
